My name is Anil. I am a wood worker based out of Bangalore, India. I make custom furniture to specific needs, vision and dimensions, using superior quality solid wood and baltic birch plywood.
With a totally unrelated degree from the prestigious BITS Pilani under my cap, I spent two decades in the Information Technology space, travelled widely and held several senior leadership roles in the corporate sector. When my association with my last IT company ended, I was at a Y intersection in my life – continue in the same path or pursue my passion in woodworking. I chose the latter, thinking it’s “Now or never”.
I call my current journey Life 2.0 – a new life and a new career in something I love doing. I tell everyone “I go home physically exhausted, but mentally alert”. I simply LOVE woodworking and making furniture. I wish I had chosen this path right after graduation – I would have enrolled as an apprentice with a master carpenter, ideally in Japan 🙂
My goal with these series of programs called ‘Training the Hand’ is to teach kids of this generation to explore working with their hands. I do this by way of conducting simple courses that lets them make items in my fully-equipped wood working studio, with loads of skills training. Carpentry may not be for everyone, but at least the child was given a choice and he/she tried – and they will remember that when they are older.
